Somme Tourisme was privileged to welcome Edward Berger and Malte Grunert, director and producer of the hit Netflix film ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, to the Somme over Armistice weekend, in support of Somme Battlefields for Peace.
On the programme:
🎬 Screening of the film ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ in VOSTFR at the Pathé cinema(Amiens). Edward Berger spoke to the audience and expressed his support for the Somme Battlefields for Peace solidarity movement. Donations collected during the evening totalled 800 euros.
🚶 Discovering the museums, places of remembrance and battlefields of the Somme.
🌹 Participation in the 11 November commemorations. On this occasion, a Franco-German commemoration took place at the German cemetery in Fricourt: pupils read extracts from the book ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, Edward Berger and Malte Grunert laid a wreath of flowers and planted a young oak tree, on behalf of Somme Battlefields for Peace.
